Is anyone driving up to the Saturday night contra dance in Columbus?

We are talking about meeting for dinner at about 6 at subway tonight. Since I'm calling, I need to be out early and to the dance hall to be ready for the beginner's workshop at 7:30. If experienced folks can be at the dance hall at 7:30 and wouldn't mind being paired up with some of the new people, I would greatly appreciate the assistance! |

| Contra Calendar Again |

Since there aren't many dances this summer, and I needed a break, I went through and added the band and callers for the dances this summer (except the Monday dances) where they were available. A lot of them are not yet available on the web pages. There are some good bands and callers coming up this summer. |

I was just updating the calendar with the summer dances. There are significantly less dances in the summer than the rest of the year. That's good, that'll give me time for some of the other things I need to do in the summer without feeling like I'm being pulled away from one thing I like to do another thing I like. Some of us have been talking about a camping trip later in the summer - maybe the gorge or something. |

Over Memorial day weekend, there is a 12 hour dance in North Carolina called Contrathon. Good dancers, lots of fun, and it's only $30 or so. Is anyone interested in sharing a road trip to Contrathon? It's in the blue mountain ridge area. Schedule wise, my plans are:
Friday: Leave after work (hopefully 5ish for everyone who goes). Get to campgrounds around midnight (ugh)
Saturday: Morning and afternoon to enjoy the mountains. Apple barn dance held in Boone from 8 to 11:30 (lots of fun)
Sunday: Contrathon: 10am-10pm of dancing.
Monday (Memorial day...should be a day off): Begin trek home as early as possible.
It's limited to 200, and you need to preregister, but it's well woth the trek! |

Lexington Friday, who's going?

Janet's off playing with rocks (See Above)
The band is Schrodinger's Cats and the caller is Jane Ewing, neither of which means much to me...except if the band doesn't play from within a box that has a geiger counter a radioactive substance and some cyanide that I'll be very disappointed.
I might get out of work as early as 5, definitely by 6. I'll know around lunch time if I have time for dinner. Who's with me? |

| Weekend Dances |

Friday - Lexington - Liz Natter and Squeaky Reels. We'll probably need to leave about 6, grab dinner on our way down there, to get there at 8.
Saturday - Columbus - Black River Iron Works from Oberlin. Should we plan on Mongollion BBQ for dinner? We haven't done that in a while. I guess that depends on if Juliet is coming. If so, we should pick something different - chinese maybe, or pizza. We could meet at 5:30ish for dinner then drive up there to be there at 8.
Who's going? We may have to take two cars. |
